Why am I doing this?

Wednesday 26th Feb
I may not have close connections with people who struggle with epilepsy, but I’ve witnessed some truly alarming moments in their experiences. From an outsider's perspective, it can be incredibly frightening. You feel a rush of panic, freeze up, and grapple with guilt, wondering how you can help even though it's not your fault. It’s astonishing how something seemingly small can trigger a massive reaction in someone with epilepsy. Watching these incidents unfold is tough, and I can only imagine the fear they must feel.

I’ve always had a strong desire to help wherever I can and show my love and support, but it’s hard to feel powerless in those moments. I remember a specific incident at my previous job when a man had an epileptic seizure right in front of me. Despite my first aid training and knowing what to do, I found myself frozen and just called for help. Although I supposedly did the right thing, I still feel awful. This wasn’t an isolated incident; it’s happened before with other strangers, and each time, it has left me feeling gutted.

That’s why I decided to take action. I wanted to be proactive and make a difference without having to wait for a crisis to unfold. Signing up for this fundraiser was a no-brainer for me. I’m committed to supporting those affected by epilepsy and raising awareness about this condition. Every little bit helps, and I’m excited to be part of something that can truly make a difference.

Doing this because “Why not?!” 💜💜
