Having testing in hospital

Thursday 27th Mar

March has been one hell of a ride

Wednesday 26th Mar
Around 15 years ago I was diagnosed with Epilepsy and that meant I was placed on a medication - Tegretol, which over time was increased until I was on a large dose. Last year I found it wasn't quite keeping the seizures at bay and so I have just spent two weeks in hospital having testing to find a new solution for my epilepsy.
This meant 7 days of having my head wired and having to sleep in a bright cubicle in the hospital with my medications being ceased to bring on the seizures.
It was terrible.
I had many seizures over the week and overall felt just awful. The week is over now but long term - the treatment may just be to return to my medication, or it might lead to a brain implant or might lead to surgery to stop the seizures  but I wont know that for a few weeks.
I will be seeing my treatment team in a few weeks where they will present the best options to me to decide which way will be the best option to stop my seizures for good.
This option will mean I might even be able to get my drivers licence back. St Vincent's Neurology Team have been fantastic in the past and I am keen to help them by raising money this month to help people with Epilepsy regain a normal life.
I am raising money for Epilepsy in the Make March Purple Campaign and ask that you help me as well

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects people differently, but ultimately continued research is needed to help those with this condition have a chance at a normal life.

Epilepsy needs a cure

Thursday 13th Feb
I have had epilepsy for over 15 years and generally it has been well managed with medication. This changed last year when seizures returned and I am trialling new drugs but have been unable to drive for nearly 12 months. Help me to raise funds to help with research so more can be done for all of those with debilitating condition.
