Our epilepsy journey 💜

Monday 3rd Feb

As a parent, there’s nothing more heart-wrenching than watching your child struggle with a condition that you can't control. My daughter, Jarrah, was diagnosed with epilepsy at a young age, and since then, our lives have been a rollercoaster of emotions, challenges, and, most importantly, hope.

Jarrah's journey began with absence seizures. I can still remember those moments when she would stare blankly into space, seemingly detached from the world around her. At first, we thought it was a phase—a sign of daydreaming or distraction.

When Jarrah turned 15, we faced a new and terrifying chapter: the onset of tonic-clonic seizures. These seizures took a toll not just on her physically, but also emotionally and socially. The fear of having a seizure in public, the anxiety of not knowing when it might happen again, and the impact on her friendships and school life were overwhelming. I found myself doing extensive research, trying to understand epilepsy and its complexities. I learned about triggers, treatments, and the importance of support networks. Yet, despite all the knowledge, the emotional weight of watching my daughter struggle was something that I could not prepare for.

Despite the challenges, Jarrah remains a beacon of strength and resilience. She continues to inspire me every day with her courage and determination. But I know that there are countless others like her—children and adults who face similar battles with epilepsy. This is why I’ve embarked on a mission to give back and make a difference.

I am organizing a fundraiser to raise awareness and funds for epilepsy research. My goal is not only to support organizations that are working tirelessly to find better treatments and ultimately a cure but also to provide resources for families navigating this journey. Every donation brings us one step closer to understanding this condition and improving the lives of those affected by it.

I invite you to join me in this fight. Whether it's through donations, spreading awareness, or simply sharing our story, your support can make a significant impact. Together, we can shine a light on epilepsy and work towards a future where no child has to live in fear of seizures.

Thank you for standing with us. With your help, we can create a brighter tomorrow for Jarrah and all those living with epilepsy. 💜
